This isn't toplines, but there is some melody work. If it comes down to it, I'll be writing the rest of the melody for the song.
My last pop song for the album, "Crystal Ball." It's a lyric about a young woman's painful story of growing up in something like a fishbowl. Inspiration for the track came from a fictional character, but it's got potential. Because of that, I'm missing some reality in the structure and meaning of the lyrics, which are originally from a poem I wrote.
The melody is not written for this track entirely, just the hook where it goes, "Encore, my Crystal Ball . . ." It's melancholy, but beautiful. She looks into her future only to see it repeat. She falls asleep with familiar visions, wishing for a new one. Trapped. "Dust upon a precious doll" the main character is describing themselves in the end, an indignant shout revealing the internal conflict.
It's sad, melancholy, but beautifully descriptive. What is seen is described as the silver lining. The lyrics are up for debate, in case you see something I don't. I've gone over these words a few times with other people and it's changed a little prior to the gig. So it's trying to refine from something fake to something real. But it needs something real to succeed, an imitation won't do.

Smooth black lines…
Riding plains of paper. Marks forever, taper.
Ending rhyme’s witty caper.
Encore, my Crystal Ball…The sight of memories in fall.
And sleep.
Clouds empty regrets…
With tears of the future, leaking through a sinful suture.
Cast on pain we conjure.
Encore, my Crystal Ball…The sight of memories in fall.
And weep.
Silence in a crowd…
Counting sheep to dream in time. Watching children define divine.
Painting our treasured shrine!
Encore! My Crystal Ball! Sight of memories fall!
Dust upon a precious doll!
