Curtisay – Grammy-Nominated Artist, Songwriter, and Producer
Curtis “Curtisay” Brown is a Grammy-nominated recording artist, songwriter, and producer known for his raw talent, lyrical versatility, and powerful storytelling. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised between Jamaica, the United States, and Canada, Curtisay’s multicultural upbringing shaped his unique sound, blending reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop influences with universal appeal.
Curtisay has built a successful international freelance career, working with over 400 producers across more than 200 countries, bringing their beats to life with radio-ready, emotionally charged vocals. He has collaborated with a wide range of industry icons, including Jah Cure, Gyptian, Laza Morgan, Beenie Man, and legendary producer Steven “Lenky” Marsden, as well as contributing to projects involving Fefe Dobson and D’Angel. His Grammy nomination stems from his contribution to Jah Cure’s album The Cure, which showcased his ability to seamlessly fuse depth, melody, and message.
Curtisay's path has been anything but ordinary. At the age of 19, he was deported from the United States after defending himself during an attack by a gang of teenagers—a case complicated by the absence of self-defense laws in the state of Maryland. Though the experience was difficult, it became a turning point in his life. Rather than allow it to define him negatively, he used it as fuel to deepen his artistry and sharpen his focus.
Returning to Jamaica with a renewed sense of purpose, Curtisay poured his energy into his music career. He released independent projects, including Courtesy of Curtisay and viral singles such as Dancehall Hitman. His lyrical talent also led to his involvement in Jamaica’s #1 dance TV show, In Di Dance, where he served as a lead songwriter.
From freestyling in Bronx lunchrooms to working with global legends, Curtisay has transformed trials into triumphs. With over 300,000 online supporters, he’s more than an artist—he’s a voice of growth, resilience, and transformation. He also plans to give back through building a creative ranch for youth, providing mentorship and guidance to help them choose positive paths early in life.
With a growing catalog of hits, a loyal fanbase, and unwavering determination, Curtisay continues to prove that with faith, persistence, vision, and God, the impossible is always within reach.
